Already the Pawsitively Perfect litter of labradoodle puppies is 5 weeks old! Where did the time go? And this week we have seen many changes in the puppies.
The first change is that everyone now has teeth and they are like little needles they are so sharp. Chewing on everything and anything has become the major activity of the puppies’ days as they work hard to get all those lovely baby teeth to come through.

Another change is in the colours of these gorgeous labradoodle puppies. Orange collar continues to develop stronger and stronger phantom markings are you can see in his photos this week. To say he is stunning would be an understatement.
Purple collar has lightened a bit and is not quite the deep intense shade of red he was born with. This is very common with red caramels as he is technically a caramel as opposed to a true red boy. To be an actual red you must have a black nose and leathers as opposed to the rose/liver nose that he has. He will continue to lighten and probably change colour a bit with the seasons just as his Mama Pippa does.
Pink collar girl is not a phantom but she does have some gorgeous tan highlights throughout her lovely chocolate base colouring.
Red collar hasn’t changed colour a bit. He is still the same gorgeous dark chocolate that he arrived with.
Coats are starting to make some changes as well. Orange collar and Purple collar both are showing lifting in their coats so they will have a lovely obvious wave which to me is the most beautiful type of coat for a labradoodle puppy to have. Pink collar and Red collar have less lifting so their waves will be looser most likely but it may just be that they are biding their time and will catch up to Orange and Purple but for now their waves are closer to Pippa’s. Black collar still has an entirely smooth coat so she may be a straight coated labradoodle or she may just be waiting for the right moment to present her waves to the world.

But the best part of all is that this week everyone has tails that wag like crazy as soon as they hear my voice or sense that Mama Pippa is in the vicinity. They all rush over with tails going like mad and jump up on the sides of their enclosure demanding to be the chosen one for being picked up, snuggled, played with and stroked. Labradoodle puppies who are so anxious for your love are the most endearing creatures on earth. Needless to say, I am now spending almost all my time in the enclosure with the puppies enjoying their kisses and wagging tails. When they start to gnaw on my fingers that is not quite so enjoyable as their teeth are like razors! We are working diligently already to teach them that chewing on their people is not a preferred behaviour. Of course they are never punished for anything they do or don’t do but instead guided and rewarded for the behaviours we are encouraging.
All the puppies, Renald and I enjoyed the visits from our families who are on the list for one of these precious puppies from Pippa and Paddington. The pups were totally pooped after all the attention and affection they received. It is always gratifying to see faces light up the first time people see their litter in person. There is absolutely nothing more adorable than a labradoodle puppy. Now the seemingly endless wait for the big reveal when assignments are announced. Really, no matter what puppy is assigned, you can’t go wrong as they are all outstanding babies just waiting to be guided and loved into outstanding dogs.
