Puppies

Haute Couture are 7 Weeks

preliminary assessments

Lots of people ask us how we do the assessments and how we match the puppies with their families? We use a variety of different methods. If you’ve done some reading you’ve probably heard about the Volhard Method, the Monks of New Skete Method, Pat Hastings, Avidog, or Puppy Culture. We combine all of those methods. We take the most relevant parts and conduct a full assessment with the puppies. Between now and Monday we will perform these assessments and each family will get their puppy assignments.

The weeks 8 to 16 are when you have the biggest influence over how they’ll be as an adult dog; this is when we do our assessments. You will hear from some breeders that they hire an assessor to come in and do the puppies’ assessments. We choose not to because at this age it’s just a snapshot.

Once you get your puppy home, you’re going to put your stamp on that puppy, and that puppy is going to take on a lot of the qualities and characteristics that you’re going to bring to them through your home, so it’s really important that you give them lots of positive experiences, and you’re puppy’s going to turn out just fabulously.

Yellow
Apricot

Yellow Collar is a beautiful chocolate labradoodle girl. She is pretty much solid chocolate, although she has a little bit of the Phantom markings. Those’ll probably disappear as she gets older. This little cutie pie is very affectionate. She’s curious, cuddly, and a real people puppy. She just loves to interact with people. When small kids are here, she goes to them naturally. She’s very calm, as you can see. She behaves very nicely with everybody. She’s a nice, balanced puppy. She’s curious, but she’s not foolish, and she doesn’t think things over too much. She just goes for it and has a great time in life.

This is our only boy, he is the fun guy in the litter. He is humorous, up to antics, doing tricks. He’s super curious. He’s always happy-go-lucky and tries everything. He loves to explore and see what’s out in the world and he’s a water baby. He’s always swimming in the water dish. If there’s water anywhere, he’s in it having a great time. He’s a lovely, fun-loving, happy, happy guy.

Pink
Georgie

Pink is the smallest labradoodle puppy in this litter. She is a chocolate Phantom. You can see she’s a Phantom by her markings on her chest, on her paws, and on her face. She is actually a sable, so those Phantom markings will probably fade out, but she looks like a Phantom right now. Pink is the little cuddler of the group. She really, really draws her confidence and her strength from people. She interacts well with people. She’s quieter and curious, but also very thoughtful when she experiences new things. She’s all sorts of wiggles and kisses; cute as a button.

We won’t do an assessment of her because she is going to be the one we keep back as a breeding prospect from this litter.

They all had their vet exams yesterday, and everybody did great, no problems. Teeth are all perfect and hearts are perfect. The next step is the big announcement as to which one of these little sweeties belongs to you, or you belong to them more accurately, and that’s going to be on August the 20th. Subscribe to our You Tube channel to be the first to know!

On Friday or Saturday there will also be a new video on food. We’ll go through a demonstration of how to make the food, what it looks like, the quantities, and so forth.
