The puppies in Oceana’s KO litter are all thriving and Oceana is also doing remarkably well.  It took a couple of days for Oceana to get the hang of being a Mom to six lovely puppies, but now she is fully settled in and doing a fabulous job.  There is a lot of happy puppies with a lot of wagging tails in this litter!

These puppies are great examples of the beautiful chocolate colouring some multigenerational labradoodles are lucky to have. All the puppies have exceptionally dark coats which will likely remain truly dark chocolate.  Beautiful, soft, velvet like coats that do not shed are also a wonderful attribute of these puppies.  There are a few pups with a teensy white spot under their chins but those likely will be virtually invisible once they reach their mature size.  There are a couple of pads with some pink and white and a tiny white patch on the belly here and there as well but they are all so minimal that none of them will actually show up as the puppies become adults.

Oceana is eating well and enjoys her special concoction of raw beef, raw chicken, raw liver, cooked beef stew with barley, peas and carrots, goat’s milk, kibble and special high carb canned dog food.  Oceana quickly moved past the need to be hand fed and is happy to eat with the rest of the crew now.  She is also doing a great job of keeping the nest just the way she likes it with the towels moved into particular locations.  The puppies are always spic and span, warm and well fed.

We spend a large amount of time handling the puppies every day whether it is weighing them, checking their development and also working with all of them to desensitize them and expose them in a positive manner to new experiences.  We also simply observing the puppies and how they respond to different situations, each other and Oceana herself.  We give the puppies a challenge each day and record those results.  All these things are carefully noted to help us make the best match between puppy and family we possibly can.  Honestly though, I don’t think you could make a poor match as these pups are all awesome!

We have the puppies in my quilting room for now.  Once they have their eyes and ears open and are able to regulate their body temperatures then we will move them into the Doodle Den alongside of the 3BPeat litter.  It is going to be a den of wall to wall puppies!  Should be a loud spot and great for all the puppies’ socialization skills.
