Puppies

Perrito Fiest are Two Weeks

good morning sunshine

These miniature Labradoodle puppies are able to see the sun shining into their maternity area each morning now that their eyes have opened!  This is one of the first major milestones in a Labradoodle puppy’s journey of life.  As breeders, we refer to it as their “second birth”.  Now is when we start to feel we are able to learn more about each individual puppy and their personality.

It never ceases to amaze me how puppies who only 14 days ago were newly born are already able to be up on all 4 legs and moving about quite well.  Although their vision is mostly just shapes and blurred images, they certainly don’t have any trouble recognizing their Mama Pippa and finding the milk bar in a hurry.  Ears haven’t opened yet but we anticipate that will happen before next week’s update.  We also expect these puppies will begin to eliminate on their own during the next week or 10 days and that signifies to us as breeders that they are ready to move out of the maternity ward and into the nursery.

Eyes are the windows to the soul they say and as Labradoodle breeders, we find this particularly true with our puppies.

Labradoodles are highly social and affectionate in nature and these puppies of Pippa’s and Hombre are showing us that now with frequent kisses and little cries of delight when they recognize our scent and touch.  Soon they will become familiar with our voices and start their first attempts at play with one another.

As Labradoodle breeders, this litter is particularly exciting for us not only because it is our Pippa’s retirement litter but also because of the remarkable patterns and colours Pippa and Hombre created together.  We thrive on the challenges of the more unique markings and colours such as sable, parti and phantom.  In this litter we have all of those as well as a very special tri coloured chocolate phantom.

At the end of the day, what matters is the puppies are plump, happy, well loved and cared for who will bring great joy to the lucky families on Pippa’s reservation list.  We intend to keep one puppy back for ourselves from this litter in order to continue with Pippa’s line.  Which one is going to be the challenge!
