This large litter has had a major accomplishment this week, they all have open eyes!
This week we noticed there was a bit more poo happening than usual. One of the puppies, Miss Grey, was very lethargic and not nursing well. We were concerned enough to take her to the vet for a fecal sample. Everything came back clear, but Grey just wasn’t doing well. We put all the puppies on antibiotics just to be safe. We put syringe fed Grey some goats milk, gave her some glucose and some “Nutradrops” to help with her energy levels. It was a touch-and-go night, but by the morning she was doing great. She gained quite a bit of weight overnight and started nursing on her own without a problem again. Everyone is fully recovered and doing amazing again.
Breezy is also doing quite well. Last week she needed us to hand feed her a bit as she didn’t have a great appetite. But this week she is happy to eat on her own again. She is eating about five-pounds of raw and some kibble for additional carbohydrates. She is maintaining her weight quite well considering all of the hungry mouths she is feeding.
