Puppies

Shake It Up- Allocation Day

The eleven puppies from the Shake It Up litter are heading to their forever homes. Congratulations to our new Van Isle families, we are so excited to watch these pups grow up with you.

Allocations

Brown

This little guy will be going to live in Victoria with a lovely retired couple. They needed a puppy who was quiet, calm and great with children. They particularly wanted a puppy that wouldn’t wake up their baby grandchild who sleeps in the afternoon. This couple also does quite a bit of travel, requiring a dog that could enjoy car rides, exploring new places and staying in hotels. They recently lost their dog, so needed a puppy who could bring some love and laughter back into their home. Brown collar is a great match for this family, he is calm, quiet and adores children. He will have no problem staying quiet while grandbabies sleep and will adore getting to play with them regularly. He is very intuitive and gentle, making him a great companion for everyone in this family.

Yellow

Little Yellow will be going to Surrey with her new mom and dad, living in their apartment. Apartment living has unique requirements and we have no doubt Yellow will measure up. This young couple needed a puppy who was very quiet, happy on her own for short periods of time, is non-responsive to sounds in the hallways or outside through the windows. They also have a cabin on a lake where they spend time with lots of young children, so they needed a puppy who could adapt to that change in atmosphere easily. Yellow has a very nice quiet demeanor. She doesn’t startle easily so she will be able to adjust to the sounds of apartment life quite well. She is quite independent and will do just fine on her own for short periods throughout the day. She is easy going and adaptable, making her time at the lake enjoyable for everyone.

Light Blue

This funny little guy will be going to Victoria to live with a lovely retired couple. He has this adorable habit of grunting whenever you pick him up, a very fun and goofy puppy which is exactly what this couple wanted. This couple is joining some of the Van Isle family gatherings, specifically the Gordon Head Meetups, where a bunch of the families get their dogs together and it’s a great community of friends. So Light Blue is already signed up to participate, ready to offer everyone some companionship, happiness and joy. Light Blue is a real entertainer, very goofy, enjoys meeting new people and dogs, is very social and outgoing. He is a very happy and affectionate puppy. This couple spends their winters in Palm Springs, so Light Blue is going to be a very happy dog for the rest of his life.

Purple

This fun little girl will be going to live in Victoria with her family, which includes 2 children. They wanted a puppy with a happy vibe, who enjoys going for walks, exploring parks, walking on the beach and splashing in the water. They also needed a dog that could bond well, was calm and friendly and would bring lots of life into their home. Purple fit the bill, her amazingly strong eye contact and the way she constantly checks in with us for cues makes her a great bonding dog. She is easy to train and has a great balanced temperament. She loves meeting new people, going on adventures, investigating new things and is extremely social. Purple is very adventurous and confident, she is playful and lives for affection and cuddles from her favorite humans. She will be a great addition to this lovely family.

Dark Blue

This gorgeous little sable puppy is joining a young couple in Victoria. They wanted a puppy who was easy to train and would help them grow from a couple into a family. They don’t yet have any children, so I suspect they will be practicing for that next adventure together. They needed a puppy that was adaptable, since Mom works shift work. Sometimes Mom will be home in the day, sometimes Mom will be sleeping during the day, some days both Mom and Dad will be working and there will be a few different caregivers who come to play with her. They also wanted a dog that enjoys going for trail runs and meeting up with fellow dog friends. Dark Blue was a great fit for this young family, she is very clever, makes great eye contact and gets a lot of her cues from watching her humans. She is eager to learn and eager to please. A very intelligent dog, so she will be easy to train. She is very affectionate and loves making people happy, communication with her will be very easy and she will just be so pleased to do anything that makes you happy. Including letting Mom sleep during the day, because that just means extra cuddle time for her and she does love her cuddles.

Grey

Little Grey is going to live with a professional couple in Victoria. They needed a puppy that was a bit lower energy, very calm, focused and quiet. Grey is perfect for that. She is a very quiet girl. She is a very studious and serious puppy. Mom works from home, with people. Grey will have no problem fitting into that lifestyle. She will have no problem being quiet in the office. She is quite intelligent, intuitive and will have no problem ascertaining if someone comes to the office and needs her to sit back quietly, or if they need a little tail wag and affection. She will be great in that role. She also likes to investigate things and will be happy to go on walks and explore new situations, while remaining close to her family. She isn’t the type of dog to run off after anything, preferring to stay close to her people. She is very devoted and loyal, and will bond very deeply with her two closest people in her family. Grey girl is going to be quite happy to have a calm lifestyle that doesn’t involve constant activity and adventure, she will gladly go adventuring but doesn’t need that to be happy. She is very much a comfortable at home type puppy.

Pink

This social butterfly will be going to live in Sooke with a couple who own a bed and breakfast. They wanted a puppy that has lots of spirit and character, who was outgoing and enjoyed beach walks and meeting lots of new people. There was no better match than Pink, she has a big presence and her personality is larger than life. We expect the best days of her life will include meeting lots of new people, some new dogs and running along the beach. Which is exactly the life she will have in Sooke. She will greet new guests with joy and enthusiasm. She will be thrilled to play on the beaches and in the water. We think she is going to be a great addition to the bed and breakfast.

Peach

This wee one has her forever name already, she is Charlotte. Charlotte will be going to live in Courtney, with a family of three women. This family asked for a sensitive dog that has a therapy/comfort dog temperament. They need a puppy who is able to be comfortable in many different situations with a variety of people. Some of those people will be in high-stress situations. She needed to be trainable to do volunteer work, providing comfort to the people that she will be working with. Charlotte was the perfect match. She is mature beyond her age, very emotionally stable and a strong character. She is an excellent candidate for this type of work. When looking for a dog that can do this kind of work, you need to ensure that they are able to absorb the stress of a situation without becoming overwhelmed and stressed themselves. A sensitive dog that becomes stressed and needs reassurance isn’t going to do well as a therapy/comfort dog. So, we need a dog that can cope with stress and can intuitively understand when people are in distress and need her comfort. Charlotte is this kind of dog, she is very perceptive in terms of knowing when she should be friendly and when she should sit back and wait for someone to approach. She has excellent skills with people. But she is not all work, she is a fun adorable and affectionate pup who adores cuddles, hikes and adventures. She will be a great companion in many ways for the 3 strong women in her life.

Black

This big fellow will be moving the Victoria, to live with his new family which includes a set of twins. They needed a puppy who was fun and energetic but could also be calm and quiet during the day while working in Moms home office. He needs to enjoy going boating and camping. They also wanted a puppy that listened and learned easily. Black was a great pick, not only for temperament but also due to some allergy sensitivities. Blacks coat is fully lifted (fluffy) which in general tells us that he is mostly likely to be allergy friendly. Typically speaking the more fluffed up a labradoodle is, the more allergy friendly they are. Black is going to be so happy to be in such a fun family, he is going to love boating and camping and growing up with the twins. He will thrive with all the love and affection he is going to get, he focuses so strongly on what he is being asked to do that he will  be very easy to train. He adores being cuddled and being praised, so he will always try to do what you want him to do.

Red

Another little one who will be making her home in Victoria, this one into a family with three children. This family wanted a smaller dog who was active enough to keep up with their children. The kids wanted a puppy who could learn tricks and play fetch. Mom wanted a puppy to be super affectionate. Red was a great match for them, she is one of the smaller puppies in this litter, is very much a cuddle bug and she has responded well to children right from the beginning. She loves to explore on her own but likes to stay within sight of her humans. She is very easy-going, loyal and devoted to her family. She is full of mischief and fun as well. She is a wonderfully balanced dog who will fit in just perfectly with this family. She loves learning, the kids and her will have incredible bonding time as they all learn together.

Orange

This little one will be joining her family in Maple Bay, she will be joining another Labradoodle and a child with unique needs. This family has had a difficult year and needed a puppy that could bring a little cheer and laughter to their home. They needed a dog that could fit in with their older dog and could also cope well with the unique challenges they have. Orange is a very stable dog. She is calm, quiet and lovely regardless of the circumstances. We do a lot of desensitization with the puppies and Orange has always handled everything with a very relaxed manner. She doesn’t rush around or get agitated, she just calmly waits and assesses the situation. We feel she will be the ideal temperament for the child in this family who needs a dog who is very calm and sensitive. She freely offers gentle kisses and is mature beyond her years. She is a very well balanced dog who is so empathetic and caring. She will be a wonderful addition to this lovely family.
