It was quite a day for us here at Van Isle Labradoodles on December 19th. The power went out at 9:30 in the morning and at 9:40 Pippa started showing signs of early labour! Although we have a generator and can manage to deliver a litter without power, it certainly isn’t ideal.
The power was out for 11 hours and all through the 11 hours Pippa’s labour continued to progress nice and slowly. Poor Pippa though had to contend with having all 8 of the dogs running around the house as our only source of heat is our propane fireplace when the power is out. Not the calming environment we usually foster for our in labour Labradoodle Moms.
Pippa took it all in stride though and handled everything like a pro. She was also terribly considerate and waited until the power was restored and we had eaten our dinner before delivering six gorgeous mini Labradoodle puppies.
The first puppy was born at 10:08 pm and the last one arrived at 11:10 pm. An amazingly quick delivery that was uneventful and entirely handled by Pippa. No assistance was required at all as she dealt with all the details like a seasoned pro.
We are crazy about these beautiful mini labradoodle puppies already. They all have lovely shiny coats and are a contented lot who don’t fuss much at all. Everyone is nursing nicely and have settled in seamlessly. One of the easiest going litters of Labradoodle puppies we have had. I predict amazing temperaments from this bunch of mini doodles.
We have a perfectly even distribution of boys and girls with 3 of each. We have one sable parti, a black phantom and 4 black velvet beauties some of whom have little white abstract markings on them.
We will be watching this litter of puppies very closely as we may see some of the black puppies morph into black sables. Sable labradoodles are incredibly stunning so it will be fun to see if, like Bijoux, Pippa’s babies start to show their true colours as time goes on.
This litter of puppies is fully reserved with puppies going to Calgary, Duncan, Sooke, Vancouver, and the lower mainland.
Our Spring 2018 litters are all booked, but if we are lucky we might have one more litter of mini Labradoodle puppies born before June 2018 with our brand new addition to the Van Isle Doodles team, Puppy Love’s Aria. Aria will be joining us all the way from Cardston, Alberta in the New Year. Watch for full details coming up on this new little mini labradoodle girl who is a black phantom. We can’t wait to see the mini puppies this girl produces for us.
If you simply can’t be without one of our gorgeous puppies there is still an opportunity for you to have the pick of the litter from Pippa’s litter as well as each of our upcoming litters by being a Guardian Home. For more information please check out the Guardian Program page. To apply for one of our later 2018 litters, please submit an Application.
It’s a very Merry Christmas at Van Isle Doodles and for all of the lucky families on Pippa’s reservation list.
Congratulations everyone!
